Illness Policy & Covid Precautions

The following statement is subject to change as we navigate this pandemic:

Hazelwood and its employees take the Corona Virus and its variants very seriously. We will continue to follow the guidelines set by the CDC and the state when it comes to regulations and safety measures for licensed childcare centers. All Hazelwood staff and any substitutes/parent volunteers will be expected to be up to date with any and all Covid related vaccines as directed and recommended by the CDC. Currently, we are only enrolling children who come from fully vaccinated homes with members who are old enough and able. Proof of household vaccinations will be required for enrollment.

Temperature checks of teachers and students will be conducted as needed. As of now, masks are optional for the students and teachers. Extra masks for adults and children will be available when needed. There will always be ventilation as well as an air purifier well suited for the space.

If anyone in the household becomes exposed to the virus or shows significant symptoms, we ask that you take the proper steps to ensure health before coming back to the school. Children will be sent home if they show notable symptoms. If a household member contracts the virus, vaccinated children are allowed to attend, but we ask that they at least take a rapid test and daily temperature checks before returning.

If a child has any of the following symptoms, they should stay home from school or will be sent home from school if observed by a teacher:

  1. Illness that prevents the child from participating comfortably in program activities.

  2. Illness that results in a greater need for care than our staff can provide without

compromising the health and safety of other children.

  3. Illness that poses a risk of spreading harmful disease to others.

  4. Fever (100° armpit, 101° orally, 102° aural/ear)

  5. Behavior changes or other signs and symptoms such as sore throat, rash, vomiting,

diarrhea, lethargy, irritability, constant crying, or difficulty breathing.

Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation as we strive to maintain a healthy and happy environment for our children!
